I am an experienced counsellor in London. Having worked in a variety of different settings for many years, I have worked with many different presenting issues and a variety of challenges that we as humans are sometimes faced with.
In my practice I work in alliance with yourself to develop a trusting relationship where you can begin to explore feelings that are impacting on your everyday life and look at the behaviour and thoughts related to the situation. One of the approach I use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Other approach I use is Integrative Counselling. We are all individual and unique, and therefore we think, feel and react in different ways. By using different theories from different approaches I will help you to make positive changes to your life and the ways you may be interpreting and reacting to your external work and how you may be relating to yourself. I will tailor the therapy to suit your individual needs. I will use the skills of these therapies:
Person-centred counselling offers a non-judgemental relationship between client and counsellor, in which the client can explore what they need and want, and how they can achieve their goals.
Psychodynamic counselling works by bringing unconscious thoughts and feelings to the surface; there is an emphasis on the influence of the past, and on recurring patterns of relationships.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works by examining the ways that thought, behaviour, and feeling effect each other, and how different aspects of these can be changed to solve specific problems.
If its something specific you want to work on. I will work with you focusing primarily with the CBT approach.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is successful for a wide range of issues, including:
- Self Esteem
- Bi-polar Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Eating Disorders (bulimia, anorexia, compulsive over-eating)
- Self Harm
- Obsessive Rumination
- Childhood Trauma
- Poor Emotional Regulation
- Sleep Disorders
- Impulse Control Disorders (such as Trichotillomania)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Anger Management
- Sexual Problems
CBT is interested in the relationship between thinking and behaviour and provides an opportunity to explore how these work together to create unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving. By working together you will be able to develop a clear understanding of how these patterns feature in your life and develop some effective strategies for challenging and changing these.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a highly effective, simple and solution focused approach that can help to change a broad range of self-defeating behaviours.
In the assessment session we will explore together your presenting problem concerns and feelings. At the end of the assessment I will make suggestion on which approach may be more suited to address your presenting problem. You will have a direct input in the decision we will be taking. My objective is the one to enable empower you and take ownership and to build a trusting alliance with me.
